Gambling and Sports Betting Become the Subject of Discussion in Missouri
Missouri authorities have resumed discussions about gambling and sports betting. It is known that these discussions were recorded in January of this year.
It is known that this week state officials gathered to discuss several issues that are related to illegal gambling and machines. In this regard, the government introduced a special bill to ban gambling. Officials are confused about the definition of “gambling”. In particular, they questioned whether pre-disclosure games fall into this category.
Casinos that operate illegally in Missouri use slot machines to attract customers. These actions are illegal since slot machines do not have a special license for such events. But this does not apply to legalized institutions.
At one of the meetings, the Senator of this state, Bill White, made a presentation. He said he opposes pre-disclosure games. He notes that this is a rather vague argument for saying that this is not a game of chance. For example, people who sell weed can be considered entrepreneurs and are illegal under local law.
The opposite position was demonstrated by Tim Robbins, who advocated that gaming slots be considered legal in the state. He stated that these games do not fit into the category of “gambling,” as they are not gambling. For example, games that are illegal in the state require customers to deposit funds before the player knows whether they win or not.
As a reminder, Torch Electronics is a large pre-disclosure game provider in this state. The company’s management constantly faces litigation for advertising crimes and gambling. BUT as expected, the company is ready to appeal this status soon.
The state Senate plans to discuss the possibility of legalizing live sports betting. Now thirty states of the country have already legalized various forms of sports betting following the decision of the Supreme Court of the United States of America. It happened in 2018. However, Missouri has not yet done so.
