GiG Partners SkyCity Launches Online Casino in New Zealand

sky city

GiG (Gaming Innovation Group) has partnered with SkyCity Malta, a New Zealand-based SkyCity Entertainment Group subsidiary, to establish a new betting site.

The launch follows confirmation of the initial agreement in May. Under this agreement, GiG agreed to fully operate and manage the casino’s solution, including running the website.

The casino solution includes marketing and compliance, CRM, front-end development, gaming content, fully managed services and a technical platform. Gaming Innovation Group will run the online casino from Malta on behalf of SkyCity.

GIG and SkyCity, working together for years, expect the new casino to significantly contribute to their revenue from 2020 upwards.

“This is an exciting day for SkyCity and one we have been working towards for some time alongside SkyCity Malta and our partner GiG,” Graeme Stephens, the chief executive of SkyCity said.

Robin Reed, GiG chief executive, said: “GiG is pursuing a strategy of becoming the global partner for strong brands in iGaming. SkyCity Entertainment Group is the largest and most reputable leisure and gambling firm in New Zealand.”

“We are very proud to have been entrusted to provide our full suite of gaming services to them. It has been great to work with Graeme and his accomplished team and due to a great collaboration we have managed to launch a state-of-the art digital casino experience only two months after signing the agreement.”

The launch was announced following the New Zealand government commencement of a public consultation to assess public opinion and support for regulating new forms of online gaming.

Presently the TAB and Lotto NZ are the sole operators allowed to provide online gaming services, though the government admitted that the number of New Zealanders engaged in offshore gambling increases.

Interested persons are invited to present their opinions to the Internal Affairs Department’s Online Gambling Team by September 30.
