BitStarz Casino Review

BitStarz launched in 2014 and was one of the first casinos to accept both Bitcoin and traditional currencies. Operated by Dama N.V., it has grown into one of the most recognisable crypto-friendly casinos, known for its very large game library, quick crypto payouts and busy calendar of tournaments.

It is aimed at players outside heavily regulated markets – it does not accept players from the UK, the US and several European countries. Here is our full review.

BitStarz operates under a gaming licence from Curaçao. Curaçao licensing offers fewer player protections than regulators such as the UK Gambling Commission or the Malta Gaming Authority, so it is important to understand what you are signing up for.

The site uses SSL encryption and certified games from established studios, and it has a long track record of paying out – which is a big part of its reputation.

BitStarz usually offers a multi-part welcome package across the first few deposits, with match bonuses and free spins released in daily batches. A no-deposit free spins offer for new sign-ups has also been part of its marketing. The current offers we track are listed on this page.

Regular promotions are a strength:

• Slot Wars – weekly slot tournaments with cash and free spins prizes.
• Table Wars – the same idea for table game players.
• Reload bonuses on set days and weekly free spins.
• Prize draws and seasonal events.

BitStarz offers thousands of games from a very wide range of studios, including Pragmatic Play, NetEnt, Microgaming, Play’n GO, Big Time Gaming, Push Gaming, Red Tiger and Endorphina, plus crypto-specific “provably fair” games.

Live tables come from Evolution and other studios, with blackjack, roulette, baccarat and game shows available around the clock.

You can play in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies or in traditional currencies. Methods we have recorded include Bitcoin, Visa, Mastercard, Skrill, Neteller, MuchBetter and AstroPay. Crypto withdrawals are often processed very quickly once approved, while card and bank withdrawals take longer.

The site is fully optimised for mobile browsers on iOS and Android, with no app needed.

Support is available 24/7 via live chat and email and is generally well regarded.

BitStarz suits experienced players outside the UK who want to play with crypto, enjoy tournaments and want a huge game choice. It is not suitable for UK players, and anyone who values strong regulator-backed protection should choose a casino licensed by a stricter authority.

BitStarz is licensed in Curaçao, not by the UK Gambling Commission. That means it is not authorised to offer gambling to players in Great Britain, and UK players do not get UK protections such as GAMSTOP, strict affordability checks or the UK’s complaint and dispute rules.

If you live in the UK, choose a UKGC-licensed casino instead – see our best UK casinos. If you live elsewhere, check that online casino play is legal where you are before you sign up.

Signing up at BitStarz is quick, but verification usually happens later than at UK-licensed sites:

1. Click Sign up and enter your email, a password, your name, date of birth and address.
2. Choose your currency – including crypto, where available – and enter a bonus code if the offer requires one.
3. Make your first deposit.
4. Before your first withdrawal, expect to upload ID, proof of address and sometimes proof of payment. Doing this early avoids long delays when you want to cash out.

Example: a €100 bonus with 40x wagering requires €4,000 of bets before you can withdraw bonus winnings.

Offers change regularly, so always check the current terms on the casino site before you deposit.

Casinos without a UK licence are not part of the UK’s GAMSTOP scheme, so the tools available depend on the operator and its regulator. At BitStarz, ask support to set deposit limits or to close or self-exclude your account if you need a break. You can also use blocking software on your devices and your bank’s gambling block.

Free, confidential help is available wherever you are – for example Gambling Help Online in Australia (1800 858 858) or the National Gambling Helpline in the UK (0808 8020 133). Read more in our guide to gambling harm.

• Oshi – a crypto and fiat casino with a cashback-based VIP club.
• 7Bit Casino – a long-running crypto casino with regular promotions.
• CosmicSlot – a newer casino with weekly cashback and a big game library.

Our overall score for BitStarz is 4.9 out of 5. It is based on four areas we check for every casino:

We also look at customer support, mobile play and the fairness of terms. Scores are reviewed when casinos change their offers or services.

Withdrawal times are typical ranges after the casino has approved your request, and can vary with verification and your bank. Prepaid vouchers such as Paysafecard usually cannot be used to withdraw, so you will need another method to cash out. Compare methods in our casino payments guide.

BitStarz deserves its reputation as one of the leading crypto-friendly casinos: the game library is enormous, crypto payouts are fast and the tournaments add real value. The Curaçao licence and long list of restricted countries mean it is not for UK players, and players who want maximum regulatory protection should look elsewhere.
