40 Lucky King is a five-reel, 40-payline fruit slot from EGT Interactive, the Bulgarian studio that now trades as Amusnet. It came out in 2018 and belongs to the studio’s long-running series of classic “40” titles. You get the usual cherries, plums, grapes and sevens, plus a crowned monarch who acts as the wild.

The appeal is simple. Lucky King wilds help complete line wins, dollar scatters pay anywhere on the screen, and the Jackpot Cards mystery bonus can start after any spin. There are no free spins, so the game suits players who like fast, old-school fruit machine play.

Theme and Design

EGT described the game at launch as a classic fruit video slot with a “royal taste”. In practice, that means the familiar fruit-machine symbols with a cartoon king added as the star of the show. The look is bright and uncluttered, much like other EGT fruit games such as 40 Super Hot.

You won’t find a storyline, cutscenes or a separate bonus screen. Everything happens on one set of reels, so the game loads quickly and is easy to follow on a phone. EGT released it for both desktop and mobile.

Reels, Paylines and Symbols

40 Lucky King uses five reels and 40 fixed paylines. Line wins pay from left to right when matching symbols land on adjacent reels, starting from the leftmost reel. Because the lines are fixed, every spin covers all 40, and your stake is spread across them.

  • Low-value symbols: cherries, lemons, oranges and plums.
  • Mid-value symbols: grapes, watermelons and bells.
  • Top regular symbol: the red lucky 7.
  • Wild: the Lucky King.
  • Scatter: the dollar sign.

Payouts change with your bet level and can differ between casino versions. Open the in-game paytable before you play to see the exact values for your stake. We have not included a paytable here because we could not verify the full figures from an official source.

Lucky King Wilds, Scatters and Bonus Features

Lucky King wild

The King lands only on the middle three reels (reels 2, 3 and 4). He substitutes for every symbol except the dollar scatter. With 40 lines in play, one King in the centre can complete several line wins on the same spin.

Dollar scatter

Dollar signs pay wherever they land, so they don’t need to line up on a payline. Scatter wins are worked out from your total bet and added to any line wins. Three scatters is the smallest paying combination, and five pays the most.

Gamble feature

After a win, you can choose to gamble it. Pick red or black, and if the next card matches your colour, the win doubles. A wrong guess loses the win you gambled. This is a pure 50/50 risk with no long-term advantage, so use it sparingly, if at all.

Jackpot Cards

Jackpot Cards is EGT’s four-level mystery jackpot, and it can start at random after any paid spin at any bet size. You pick from 12 face-down cards until three of the same suit appear. You then win the jackpot level linked to that suit, and spades is the top tier. You can’t trigger it on purpose, and jackpot sizes depend on the casino’s network. For more on how pooled prizes work, see our guide to progressive slots.

The game has no free spins round and no feature buy.

RTP, Volatility and Max Win

We could not find an official RTP, volatility rating or maximum win for 40 Lucky King from Amusnet. Third-party figures disagree, with RTPs of around 95% to 95.5% quoted and different top-win numbers. Many review sites describe the variance as low to medium, which fits a game where frequent small line wins do most of the work. However, this is not a rating from the provider.

Like many EGT titles, the game may be offered at different RTP settings depending on the operator. Before you play for real money, open the help or info screen at your casino, which shows the RTP for the version you are actually playing. A return in the mid-90s means the house keeps an edge over time, and any single session can go far above or below that average.

How to Play 40 Lucky King

  1. Choose your stake. The game offers a range of bet levels, and you choose the total amount per spin rather than a coin value per line. The minimum and maximum bets depend on the casino.
  2. Check the paytable. Look at the symbol values for your stake and the RTP in the info screen.
  3. Spin. Press Start, or use Autoplay for a set number of spins if your casino allows it.
  4. Collect or gamble. After a win, take it or try the red/black gamble.
  5. Watch for Jackpot Cards. If the mystery round starts, pick cards until three of the same suit appear.

Tips and Bankroll Management

  • Set a budget first. Decide on your spending limit before you start, and stop when you reach it. No setting or pattern changes the result of a spin.
  • Pick a stake that lasts. All 40 lines are always active, so the only thing you change is your total bet. A smaller stake gives you more spins and more chances at the random Jackpot Cards round.
  • Treat the gamble as optional. Doubling up can wipe out a session’s best win in one click. If you use it, gamble small wins only.
  • Check bonus terms. If you play with a casino offer, check whether EGT/Amusnet slots count towards wagering and what the maximum bet is. Our casino bonus terms guide explains the details.

Gambling is for adults aged 18+ only and should be treated as entertainment, not as a way to make money. Use your casino’s deposit limits and time-outs if you need them.

Our Verdict

40 Lucky King is a no-frills fruit slot that does what it sets out to do. King wilds on the middle reels, scatter pays and the random Jackpot Cards round give enough variety for short sessions, and the clean layout works well on mobile.

If you want free spins, multipliers or a big headline max win, this isn’t the game for you. Fans of classic EGT fruit slots will find it familiar and easy to pick up. Check the RTP at your casino before you play.
