Book of Aztec Slot Strategy: Tips, Features and Bankroll Guide

Released by Amatic in 2015, Book of Aztec sends a female explorer into a jungle temple. It follows the familiar book slot formula, which makes it easy to learn and easy to compare with similar games. Here is how to play it well. See the Book of Aztec review for the full paytable.

• Provider: Amatic
• 5 reels, 3 rows, 10 paylines
• Book symbol is both wild and scatter
• 10 free spins with an expanding symbol
• Top win of 5,000x, medium volatility, RTP around 96%

Figures can vary slightly between casinos, so check the game’s info screen before you play.

Free spins with an expanding symbol. Three or more books trigger 10 free spins. One symbol is chosen to expand across full reels during the round and pays on all active lines, regardless of position.

Top symbol. The explorer pays the most; if she is the expanding symbol, a full screen of her is where the 5,000x top win comes from.

Play with all 10 lines active – fewer lines reduce what the expanding symbol can pay. Medium volatility means a mix of small base-game wins and occasional strong bonuses, so a stake of around 1% of your session budget is a sensible start. If you enjoy this game, Book of Pharao and Book of Fortune play in a similar way.

Bet size: for a medium-volatility game, a stake of about 0.5–1% of your session budget is sensible. With £50, that is roughly 25p to 50p a spin – enough spins to see the features a few times.

After a win, many Amatic games let you gamble it: guess the colour of a hidden card to double the win, or the suit to multiply it by four. The guess is a fair coin flip, so it does not change the long-run return – it only makes results swingier. Use it, if at all, for small wins, and never gamble a big free spins win. You can always collect instead.

Book of Aztec is available at many casinos that carry Amatic games. Choose a licensed site with fair bonus terms – free spins offers are a good way to try a slot – and compare options in our best UK casinos list.

No strategy can change the result of a spin: every outcome is random. At UK-licensed casinos, autoplay and bonus buys are not available and online slot stakes are capped at £5 per spin (£2 for players aged 18 to 24). Set a budget before you play and stop when it is gone.
